Past Studies

The Heart of Detroit Study (THDS) is a cross-sectional, mixed-method study examining how biological, social, and psychological factors contribute to cardiovascular disease risk among 500 African American adults aged 55–75 in metro Detroit. Using ecological measurements, the study aims to identify daily psychosocial stressors and their psychological and biological pathways, with baseline data collected from 2021–2023 and follow-up data from 2024–2025.

 The Asthma in the Lives of Families Today 2.0 (ALOFT 2.0) project was established to continue the work from ALOFT 1.0 to identify the behavioral and biological pathways through which family social environments impact youth with asthma. Recruitment of children between the ages of 10-17 who have asthma is currently ongoing. Contact Jasnoor Kaur at 313-577-3334.

The Health of Older Adults in Detroit (HOLD) study recruited over 200 older adults from 2018-2020 to examine how biological, social, and psychological factors contribute to health.
